Clicquot: A Revolutionary Musical follows the early life of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin. Clicquot opens at the dawn of the French Revolution when a young and tenacious Barbe-Nicole must be rescued from her elite boarding school by the family dressmaker. Ten years later, Barbe-Nicole dreams of taking charge of her father’s business, but no amount of talent nor passion would allow a woman in business at the turn of the 19th century. Instead, she must enter into a marriage with Francois Clicquot, arranged by their fathers. Surprisingly, she and Francois fall madly in love and, against the odds, become co-creators of
Clicquot Wines (later known as Veuve Clicquot).
